This project aims to create a highly adaptive green urbanism that will meet the challenges of the rapidly changing socio-economic setting in Haomingyuan. The evolution of value systems towards the seemingly conflicting but inherently consistent tendency of heterogeneity and homogeneity during the post-Fordist era makes our settlement more and more like a fragmented "Disney World", especially for the fast growing urban regions. By way of integrated multidisciplinary design and consideration of essential human values, we try to bridge the deep cultural gap between traditional and modern, between local and global. From this perspective the design process becomes an exploration of what the ideal, enduring, high quality human settlement might be in this specific context.
