Party Secretary Han Zheng inspected Yangpu Riverside holing-through construction on July 5. The founder of UrbanDATA, Dr. Shan, made a briefing to Han while in Shanghai Shipyard Area that was regenerated by her team.

The renewal of Shanghai Shipyard (Puxi plant) and a number of hundred-year industrial relics which link up the distinctive and marvelous Yangpu Riverside public spaces are now holed through.Shanghai Shipyard (Puxi plant) is the most important industrial base in modern China. As the origin of Shanghai modern industrial civilization, it reserved a great number of distinctive industrial heritages, including the largest shipyard in the early 20th Century in Far East and shipyard plant. It represented the state-of-the-art standards in our domestic shipbuilding industry before 1990s.

UrbanDATA was honored to redesign the landscape, architecture, display and signage system of Shanghai Shipyard and Expo Watergate areas.We focused on enhancing inner culture in the process of the overall public space remodeling. UrbanDATA team under the leadership of Dr. Shan made deep onsite investigations, communicated with owners and witnesses of history, dedicatedly studied the features of the site, reserved and excavated the characteristic of the industrial relics. The team adopted advanced space design methodology, implemented the project into urban open space system and created distinctive shipyard park on the basis of reservation and conservation.
