At present, China's urban development has entered into a new phase, which is endogenous growth: urban renewal has become the main theme of urban development. This time, UrbanDATA as usual moves forward in the forefront of the era. With supports of all parties, it held the seminar elaborately.
The meeting was held at the Assembly Hall of Block 160 in Huangpu District – Administration building of French Concession, the core public building in the period of International Settlement. This historic building has witnessed the changes of Shanghai, where our Mayor Chen Yi devoted himself to the development of the city. Here at the place of hopes and dreams, UrbandATA hopes to make the meeting as a start to explore the advanced ideas of city renewal and to seek the power for sustainable development of the city by brainstorming and experience summaries.
At the discussion session, participants from various fields spoke freely and shared a series of insights on the subject of urban renewal. Planners from UrbanDATA also shared "international case studies – Enhancing functional adaptabilities of historic buildings through design" focusing on the theme. Through reviewing history, we can see the present and anticipate future from those historical buildings. Only constantly integrating and connecting with contemporary social life can we maintain the eternal vitality.
