Hongkou District development forum

Recently, Development Forum of North Sichuan road themed as “charming blocks, better city life” was co-sponsored by economic committee of Shanghai Political Consultative Committee, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Hongkou District Political Consultative Committee. Dr. Shan was invited to give a speech.

Dr. Shan pointed out that, North Sichuan road is the real culture birthplace of Shanghai, Nanjing Road is famous for its center location and many historical buildings, and romantic Huaihai Road remains the French unique street and space, while North Sichuan Road was the place where Chinese culture confronting with foreign culture, incurring much reflection upon Chinese cultural modernization and Chinese identity, leaving lots of buildings with Shanghai construction feature, it has many “first thing”, including the first formal cinemas, Shanghai first cantonese opera performance center, Shanghais earliest literary salon, etc. These unique brand resources give this road deep historic background and meaning.
