Today half of the world population lives in urban areas, with Asian cities growing especially rapidly. This type of urbanism requires new urban strategies, development methods, design concepts and relevant analysis. These contemporary megacities have a need for significant skylines that symbolize the city.

This first stage of this project involved researching and analyzing popular skylines throughout the world, with the objective of finding a way to create significant new skylines for fast developing cities. The second stage of the project focused on applying the researched design methods to the context of Kunming City. Depending on the values that are applied this resulted in three different skyline proposals.
