As Shanghai becomes increasingly competitive as a site for global headquarters the aspirations of the city look sure to be met. We propose to grow a healthy local economic base at Hongkou District, with many accompanying benefits. This base will be realized in the form of an incubation district designed for locally owned businesses, large or small. The local businesses will serve the special creative needs of multinational corporations, providing a range of services such as advertising, printing and publication, web design & development, new media or animation, graphic design, translation services, and public relations. The district is designed to meet all the needs of these businesses as well as providing a unique urban environment and high quality of life. Resource sharing, networking, and the sense of a nexus of related services are the goal of the project.

The transit hub of metro line 4 and line 10 is to be constructed underground on the same site. We propose to open up the first underground floor as a continuous commercial space, connected to the ground floor plaza and the roof garden by escalators, with an atrium connecting the spaces visually. As well as creating a more convenient shopping, entertainment and living space, this will also make more efficient use of the land and help to raise its value.
