Urban Planning
Water has been a vital element in Linyi's geography and history. The name "Linyi" itself means "next to the Yi River." In our proposal for the North New District, water bodies and green spaces are not only regarded as ecological components but also as defining local characteristics. The overall planning and design aim to develop a system that integrates urban and natural environments, serving as a sustainable Chinese city model for the 21st century: a riverside garden city.
By enhancing the network of regional greenery and water systems, the district's structure will harmonize well with both the urban and natural contexts. Specifically, the Liuqing River defines a north-south green corridor, while the newly designed waterways will strengthen the east-west connectivity between the two riverside zones. Together with the district center and residential communities, these two "ecological corridors" will form the primary structural elements of the plan.
The land-use plan for the North New District consists of six key components: a commercial and financial center, two specialized hubs serving the district's business and visitors (a research and development center and a riverside leisure park), a sports center catering to the entire city of Linyi, residential areas, and expansive open spaces.
