Project Background

This century is the century of media. Communication and information are now key factors for a prospering economy. The coastal city of Ningbo is setting the pace for China’s rapid development and devoting itself to a future of new technologies. Ningbo Media City will be the core of the city’s international activity. The site is located in the downtown area of the city, opposite the famous Old Bund area and the new commercial centre of Ningbo Tianyi Plaza. Tianyi Plaza is mostly for recreational and commercial use. The Old Bund is one of only a few remaining historic river fronts, with a history of more than one hundred years. It is now Ningbo’s center for food, entertainment, leisure and art. Traditional Chinese culture mixes with European styles in the diverse historical architecture of the site, including its famous classical church. This core area is now set to become a modern and unique business area. Ningbo Media City will help to prepare Ningbo for the future. In conjunction with Tianyi plaza and the Old Bund it will shape the city into a flexible, multifunctional centre for commerce, business, leisure, culture and entertainment.
