Recently, the International Review Meeting for the Kunming Conceptual Urban Design Scheme was held in Kunming, the "Spring City." UrbanDATA presented a visionary plan centered on Kunming's "Three Mountains, One Water" geographical pattern, crafting a compelling blueprint for a "Plateau Lakeside Ecological City." The proposal received acclaim from attending experts and scholars.

In late October, the Kunming Urban-Rural Planning Committee of Yunnan Province organized the review meeting, convening a panel of experts from domestic universities and relevant institutions to evaluate the Kunming Conceptual Urban Design Scheme. After thorough deliberation, the panel assessed proposals from several renowned international and domestic planning firms, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in each. The review highlighted that urbanDATA's proposal—with its design philosophy, approach, and implementation methods tailored to a plateau lakeside city—demonstrated strong contemporary relevance and delivered operational-level outcomes.

This urban design initiative marks China's first large-scale application of urban design concepts, covering approximately 3,000 square kilometers of the Dianchi Lake basin. The Kunming Conceptual Urban Design Scheme strategically leverages Kunming's natural landscape, proposing a spatial layout featuring "Visual Corridors" and "Cultural Corridors" around the Dianchi basin. This framework aims to elevate Kunming's overall urban image.

The scheme showcases urbanDATA's expertise in urban design, integrating planning, architecture, and multidisciplinary strengths with an international perspective. Guided by ecological urbanism principles, it positions Kunming as a pioneering model for eco-civilization urban development in western China, proposing a strategic vision for a distinctive plateau lakeside ecological metropolis.
